New Jersey residents, Josh Bell and Marc Yelverton, release “Aurora & Lionheart Primer: The Heroes of Jersey City” on Amazon.com
QUEE[R]EVOLUTION Media (Q[R]EM) is proudly to announce our first digital short story, Aurora and Lionheart Primer: The Heroes of Jersey City on Amazon.com. Marc Yelverton and Josh Bell designed a new superhero universe with inclusion of characters at the forefront, and dream of everyone being able to see a superhero who looks like them
Marc and Josh began writing together nearly fifteen years ago in two very different places. Marc lived here in New Jersey, while Josh lived in South Dakota. Marc had been building his own superhero universe for over thirty-five years, and when they moved in together eight years ago, Josh got the privilege to write in it. Together, however, they have been building a brand-new superhero universe focusing on queer characters and bringing minority characters to the forefront.
Michael Billy, President of Q[R]EM, said: “The most diverse city in the nation, Jersey City, was recently dubbed the queerest city in America by The Advocate. Once known as the Golden Door to the nation, Jersey City has come a long way. If you ask locals, JC has been the queerest and most diverse long before it got its titles. From immigrants to activists, from people who came from all ends of the earth, there have always been superheroes among us- and it’s about time we got more.”
Josh Bell, co-writer and Q[R]EM Vice-President, said: “Marc and I wanted to tell good stories. I have loved superheroes since I was a kid. I always wished that I could be one of the X-Men. This is me using what skills I have to build a little bit better world. I can give people heroes who look like them, and create a better world on a page that promotes compassion and understanding amongst us all.”
QUEE[R]EVOLUTION Media launched earlier this year as a new queer media blog building a collective of writers, healers, activists, advocates, performers, and all committed to creating content to ensure a better tomorrow.
